"Migratory V" - A Tribute to Taylor and Danielle
Migratory V, a song by Adam Guettel we recorded for our album "HYMN -- Songs of Great Faith". We were transfixed by Buzzfeed.com's "A Love Story in 22 Pictures," the story of recently wounded veteran Taylor Morris and his sweetheart, Danielle Kelly and thought the pictures from photographer Tim Dodd's blog of the couple and their amazing, ongoing journey would be wonderfully set using this song.
"Timeless: A Show for the Ages"
"These guys are great singers, and that's a fact."
-Jazz legend Natalie Cole
This Gulley/Granner production is just the right amount of serious opera, songbook standards, and gorgeous pop songs mixed in for good measure.
Truly Beautiful Singing - Metropolitan Opera National Council Award winners Gulley/Granner (tenors Ben Gulley and Nathan Granner) have established themselves as top independent classical artists, in the opera world singing principal roles across the United States and into the European Union as well as pairing up to share great music on the concert stage.
The two gents developed a strong, gregarious kinship through touring as the classical crossover artists, "The American Tenors," a Sony Masterworks group. Fans delight in their beautiful world-class voices and eye for great visual production.
Gulley/Granner performances are always an event. Ben and Nathan, as producing artists, collaborate with people from multiple artistic disciplines to create shows that are operatic in scope and focused upon entertaining a wide variety of people.
Even without the lights and gimicks, the two crack jokes, laugh and bring fans into their world that encapsulates classic hits from the 20th Century and stretches as far back as the 1700's with Baroque and true Classical era music.
In its funnier moments, Timeless: A Show for the Ages, sees Ben as the sometimes unwitting straight-man and nathan as the zany professor, Gulley /Granner entertain and educate, re-introducing people to current and historic music that is anywhere from 150 to 350 years old.
With a kind of Carol Burnett Show panache, they translate, they tell stories, even teach key words and phrases to their audience getting folks to participate in some of the greatest music of all time.
With the good humored program, there are ballads to reflect and share inspiration such as "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "The Prayer", love songs like "Unchained Melody" to grab someone's hand, to remember an old flame and newer works such as Falling Slowly and even songs written by Gulley/Granner themselves to make the performance something Unforgetable. Ben and Nathan draw people in and make them feel as special as they really are.
"You guys are remarkable...That was super-impressive. It'd be difficult to follow that!"
-producer David Foster
